FTL transport
The transport of goods and its associated logistics require us to make numerous decisions. One of these is the correct calculation of the space our cargo will occupy and its tonnage. With this information, we can determine the type of transport required. The most common type of transport is Full Truckload (FTL).
When is a transport considered a full truckload?
Full truckload transport occurs when the goods occupy the entire trailer. The standard type of trailer – a tarpaulin or curtainsider – has a maximum length of 13.6 meters and a maximum load capacity of 24 tons. To optimize transport as much as possible from a financial and environmental perspective, it is best to fully utilize the trailer’s cargo space. The forwarders working at Woz-Trans always advise our clients on the appropriate means of transport for their goods.
What goods are most commonly transported as full truckloads?
Full truckload transport—also known as FTL (Full Truckload)—applies to a vast range of goods. This type of transport is used by industries such as food, automotive, construction, and electronics. Whenever a larger quantity of goods needs to be moved, it will typically involve a full truckload. A full semi-trailer most often accommodates 33 Euro-pallets, which occupy 13.6 meters of loading space. As for the weight, it can be less than the maximum permissible payload of 24 tonnes, as goods can be either lightweight (e.g., packages of tissues) or heavy (e.g., steel).

- High cargo security—when chartering an entire semi-trailer, the goods can be additionally secured with a seal that can only be broken at the point of unloading.
